For decades, women have worked tirelessly to shine a light on domestic violence which first came to public awareness in the 1960's. Men were deemed the "root cause" of the problem and left out of the movement. While significant gains have been made in awareness, research and legislation, rates of intimate partner violence remain startlingly high.
