2015 Domestic Violence Stinks Campaign
“Domestic Violence Stinks!”
Together we can bring an end to domestic violence
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
RESOLVE of Greater Rochester Inc. is heightening its efforts to raise awareness in the community and on college campuses throughout the month of October by declaring “Domestic Violence Stinks” across the front of purple-painted wooden outhouses.
Bottom line is Domestic Violence Stinks. It happens behind closed doors and is often a terrible secret; when the reality is 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will be affected by domestic violence and 1 in 4 college females will be sexually assaulted before graduation.”
This whimsical campaign for a serious cause strives to draw attention to a frightening topic in a non-threatening way and to foster open dialog about the prevalence of domestic violence in our community; particularly in the suburbs, where more than half of all incidents are reported.
The goal of the campaign is to acknoweldge that domestic violence happens in every neighborhood; and to let people who may be suffering in silence know that they are not alone and that help is available.
Who is affected?
In Monroe County*, domestic violence reports are:

RESOLVE of Greater Rochester is a non-profit organization empowering people and communities to break the cycle of domestic violence.Since 1998 we have provided non-residential resources and support to victims and survivors from our confidential location on the Southeast side of Monroe County, while engaging the community around this issue through prevention education and awareness efforts. We believe that working together as men and women is the key to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and invite all who are interested in creating safer families and relationships to join us.
RESOLVE is privately funded, meaning we receive no state or federal funding, More than a crisis intervention program, RESOLVE is focused on healing and rebuilding lives and to changing the paradigm that allows domestic violence to persist in our community.
